DataWind has launched three budget range smartphones for Indian market under the PocketSurfer category. They are PocketSurfer 5X (Rs. 3,999), PocketSurfer 5 (Rs.4,999) and PocketSurfer 3G5 (Rs. 6,499). Which are equipped with its patented mobile internet technology.
The PocketSurfer 5X, the PocketSurfer 5 and the PocketSurfer 3G5 are low priced phones that start from Rs. 3,499 onwards. All the three devices come with 5-inch capacitive touch screen display (800 x 480 pixels) and are dual SIM devices.
The PocketSurfer 5X is the cheapest phone comes with dual-SIM capabilities. The 5X has a 5-inch WQVGA display, powered by a single-core 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Linux OS and promises 3 hours of talk time and one day standby time. No details about storage capacity though. This is available in White, Black and Blue colour's. These devices are currently available on the company.
The PocketSurfer 5 is powered by a single-core 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The PocketSurfer 5 also has dual-SIM capabilities but this phablet comes with the Android version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich flavour and promises the same three hours of talk time and 2 days standby time. PocketSurfer is available in White and Black colours. You can expand the memory on this phone too using a microSD card, but the internal storage capacity has not been revealed. The phone is priced Rs. 4,999.
The PocketSurfer 3G5 is the most expensive of the lot, The 3G5 is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (JellyBean). Priced at Rs. 6,499. It has a built in 3G modem and the phone comes with a 5-inch display and offers a talk time of about 4 hours and 2 days standby time. PocketSurfer 3GS supports major Audio/Video formats and has integrated FM radio function. The PocketSurfer 3G5 has 4GB inbuilt memory and is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card. It is available only in Black.
