Floating City

Floating City :

Our dreams will come true soon, FLOATING around the globe, travelling from country to country, never staying in one place long enough to get bored.....
A city on the sea may seem like a science fiction fantasy, but one Florida company is looking to bring the idea to life.
Always dreamed of travelling the World, but hate the thought of leaving the comforts of home behind? Well, you may want to book spot aboard the Freedom Ship, an incredible 1.6km floating city, which will even boast its own airport.
The Freedom Ship would be home to 50,000 people and have its own airport, casinos and shopping centers. The Florida-based company behind the city of the sea says it is hopeful it can raise the $1 billion needed to begin construction on the massive vessel.
Its designers have released computer-generated photographs of what they hope the mile-long vessel will look like. The Ship has not actually been built yet, Its designers have released computer generated images of what they hope the vessel will look like.
It would have enough room for 50,000 permanent residents within its 25 storeys and boasts schools, hospitals, art galleries, shops, parks, an aquarium and a casino. It would even have its own airport on the roof of the ship, with a run way serving small private and commercial aircraft carrying up to 40 passengers each.
The ship would spend 70 percent of its time anchored off major cities and the rest sailing between countries.
Powered by solar panels and wave energy, the city would navigate from the east coast of the US across the Atlantic to Europe and into the Mediterranean.
Florida-based firm, Freedom Ship International is currently trying to raise the estimated $10bn(R100bn at R10.23/dollar) to turn the dream into a reality.
"The Freedom Ship will be the largest vessel ever built, and the first ever floating city," Roger M Gooch director and vice-president of Freedom Ship International said.
The Ship would spend 70 percent of its time anchored off major cities and the rest sailing between countries.
"In the last six months we are getting more interest in the project and we are hopeful we will raise the $1 billion to begin construction." Gooch said.
If completed, the city will be 750ft at the beam, 350ft high and 4,500ft in length - four times longer than the Queen Marry II cruise ship which measures 1,132ft.
