The 1st-gen i10 was launched in India in the year 2007. The i10 has been one of best selling models for Hyundai in the Indian car market but it sells in a segment that witnesses stiff competition from other manufacturers. Despite a petrol-only engine range, it accomplished a monthly sales average of 8,000 over the last 12 months. what's more the i10 has consistently ranked in the Top 10 bestsellers chart.
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) launched its much-awaited Grand i10 in India with a price tag starting from Rs.4.29 lakh.
The Grand i10, which is positioned between i20 and i10 will come to the domestic market in petrol and diesel engine variants. The petrol variant packs a 1.2-litre Kappa engine which can churn out a higher power of 83 PS and 116 NM torque. The diesel model of the vehicle houses a 1.1-litre three cylinder U2 VGT motor engine that delivers 71 PS power and 163 NM of torque.
The is the 2nd generation i10. India gets it before Europe, just like the 1st gen which had its world premiere here. Not surprising, as India is the most important market for this car. There have been some India-specific changes as well. Each and every part of the exterior has been crafted to perfection and leaves an everlasting impression on all those who catch the glimpse of it.
For starter, the length increases by 100 mm, as does the wheelbase by 40 mm. The rear window & door are bigger than on the Euro version too. The C-pillar is different and a rear air-conditioner has been added to the kit.
Hyundai's Grand i10 flaunts premium features like smart key, push button start/stop, a double DIN audio system with 1GB internal memory, Bluetooth connectivity, Aux-in and USB connectivity, Steering mounted audio controls. A/C vent for rear passengers, rear parking sensors, glove box cooling and electric ORVMs.
The diesel variant is priced between Rs. 5.23 lakh to Rs .6.41 lakh (ex Showroom Delhi) and the Petrol models comes in the price range of Rs. 4.29 lakh to Rs. 5.47 lakh. Both variants come in four trims - Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta.
The new generation i10 features a more expensive design both inside and out, while the interior gets new level of comfort, quality and safety equipments. It is equipped with a host of standard and optional equipment like automatic climate control, heated leather steering wheel and cruise control. The vehicle also features various safety features like tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electric stability control (ESC) and six airbags.
Grand i10 at an aggressive price of Rs. 4.29 lakh to Rs. 6.41 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi, a good Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 57,000 lower than its arch rival Maruti Suzuki's Swift.
When compared to its highest selling Swift VXi variant of Maruthi, the comparable variant of Grand i10-the Magna petrol is priced Rs. 50,000 lower and the Magna Diesel is priced Rs. 57,000 lower than Swift's Vdi variant.
