Goa : Best Place to Visit

Goa is a land that redefines holidays, with its exquisite mix of sun, surf and beaches; Goa has become the ultimate tourist destination. Goa is a tiny emeralds land with its natural scenic beauty, attractive beaches and temples, famous for its architecture, feast and festivals and hospitable and delightful people with a rich culture and good food. Goa, popularly known as 'the pearl of the east' is famous for its churches, age-old ruins, palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves, ferry rides, and bubbly folk music.
With its 131 -km-long coastline, Goa is an important destination in every tourist's itinerary. Sun, sand and sea being the major attractions, Goa is a perfect heaven for the ones who need and want relaxation.
What most people will notice when visiting Goa is that it is the smallest state in India in regards to area and is the forth smallest in regards to inhabitants. Even though Goa is small it is still widely visited because of it's renowned beaches and the many places people can come and worship. Something most people don't know Goa, India is that it is India's richest state per capita.
Goa is also known for its temples and world heritage architecture including the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa, which makes it one of the biggest Christian pilgrimage sites in Asia.
 
Goa Climate : The climate is tropical with a June to September monsoon, when rainfall is approximately 400 cms. For the rest of the year humidity is surprisingly low and average daily temperature is 27C (85 F). The coolest months are November to February when night temperatures can fall to 20 C (70 F) and a pull-over many be worn.

People :
The people of Goa are very friendly, relaxed and extremely happy-go-lucky. The afternoon siesta is an important feature of life in Goa; in accordance with it shops down their shutters from one to four. People of Goa belong to different faiths and come from different cultural backgrounds. However, they all lay emphasis on good living.

Culture :
Having had a multicultural past, the people, culture and festivals of Goa have been accordingly affected Goa has a colourful culture, that evolved from its history of Hindu, Muslim and Portuguese rulers. Thus leaving behind distinctive marks on the land and the lives of the people. Though, Goa is a multi-ethnic state, Goans are very tolerant towards each others faiths.

Food : 
The staple diet of Goa is fish curry and rice. Unlike the rest of India, most Hindus in Goa eat fish. In the monsoons, when no fresh fish is available. The other favourite dish is pork, although chicken is a close second. The main cause of which is FENI. This is the local drink in Goa, made from either coconut sap or cashew fruit.
