Mahindra e20 is "futuristic", because that's certainly what it makes you feel like when you first step inside and press the 'Start' button. The dashboard lights up in an instant, and the screen displays a whole host of very simple digital readouts.
  

The dash also has a touch screen based display which doubles up as a satellite navigation, audio unit and systems information package that Mahindra calls 'Intelligent Energy Management System'. This system is powered by 10 on-board computers and gives you real-time drive information and diagnostics-for instance the amount of regenerative power being fed back into the batteries when you brake. The juice to the motor is fed by lithium-ion battery packs placed right under the front seats.
The car can generate a maximum power of the car is 25 BHP and maximum torque of 53Nm with a top speed of 81 km per hour. Mahindra's e20 to bring down running cost to 50 paise per kilometre.
A 4-stage automatic transmission also has a boost mode that allows for speedier take offs, and while the accelerator pedal is a bit spongy, there is no lag in power delivery to the wheels.
   

Driving around in the e20 is a pleasant experience, and even if you have got a lead foot, it 'll easily take you past 100kms (about four to five hours) on a single full charge, making it ideal for daily errands. And a quick one-hour charge will give you around 30kms with some extra mileage thrown in due to the regenerative charge generated due to braking.
    "Easy home charging" just like your mobile or laptop. Simply plug in your e20 overnight in your own garage or parking lot and you are ready to go the next morning.
